A round of applause to another well done episode of The Flash, and It still has me by my boot straps! I honestly keep trying to figure out Dr. Wells end game but unfortunately thus far I don’t see it but that’s alright wouldn’t be a good televisions show if they just blurted it out for all to see.
Another thing that has been on my mind, How old Is Iris’s boy toy? Isn’t he like Joe’s age? (Iris’s father) Can I be the only one who is thinking about this? I mean he doesn’t look too old but he doesn’t look young either. Shake my head.
It’s the battle of Lighting vs Gas! Who is going to come out on top? My bets with Lightning aka The Flash. Barry is still learning his abilities but I find myself waiting for him to rely less on the Star Lab techs help and work things himself and become a true badass. Please let him become a badass Barry Please!
Overall this was another grand episode in my book and if your not enjoying this show then you sir or madam have issues. The plots starting to warm up nicely and there is never a dull moment.
Good ole Joe always has the best advice for Barry 😀 Someone has to be the voice of reason when it comes to all these heroes, basically someone to snap them back into reality before they go and do something dumb or gets them killed.
Sorry for the random bits this time, the cold I have is making it difficult to keep things in an orderly fashion or even put together a cohesive statement!
Well be back in a Flash! Speed on to live another day!
Before watching this I watched Gotham which I really enjoyed the heavy Bullock episode, the ending made me smile a bit in your face Montoya Suck it!
I also watched the premiere of Constantine, there is one hell of a badass show it made me laugh, it made me jump out of my skin a bit as well. For a TV show it has some pretty amazing special effects!
Howdy Hoe good neighbors.
So once again I have a some cosplayers and their creative cosplay outfits. This time I have a few pictures for this years Edmonton Expo 2014. Unlike most of my posting I won’t have what they are dressed up to be. I believe my readers and you that come to see these pictures are smart enough to figure out who they are. So saying that here they are.
Next week I will bring part 2 of the Edmonton Expo Cosplay.
Good morning everyone, its time for another awesome round of Geekified Interviews! Please contain your excitement! Before we jump right on into another fun-filled interview I wanted to take a quick moment to ask everyone to help me reach 4,000 views by the end of this year! I have only been running this site for almost 2 years now and I have really come to love my blog and all of my readers. I am way above my view count at year 2 I wanted to reach 2,000 but I have already cleared that 3,000 gap this year, so I would love your help to get that number higher for year 3! Thank you so much for all that you do whether its help spread the word for me or just read and enjoy my site. Now let’s get into that interview as promised!
Please give a warm welcome to my twitter friend Dan @Detneirosid! He is one half of one of my favorite podcasts @SodaPopTalk!
How has social media improved/impacted your life?
The growth of social media has had its ups and downs for me. The positive for me is that I’ve been able to find people with which I share common interests. It’s helped me to express myself more and virtually meet some great people whom I consider friends. In addition, there have been times in the past where I’ve been able to talk to family that I haven’t seen in a long time. There are plenty of negative aspects as well, but I will only focus on the positive here.
Who inspired you to be the person you are today?
My inspiration would be everyone whom I’ve known, heard or read about. There are a few people whom i hold in high esteem for various reasons though. First is one of my grandmas who was a resource for many women who had been abused. Second is Gary Lenaire who is a musician and free-thinker. Third is Sami Albert Hynninen whom is also a musician.
If you could give a geek from this generation advice what would you say?
Exclusion and elitism are two very large pitfalls. Be accepting of other people even though you may not like what they like or you may not have the knowledge you have. Much of what has been considered geeky in the past has become mainstream and truly is not geeky by definition. Be careful what is done with this new-found power.
If you had to give up one geeky hobby up what would it be? And what would you replace it with?
I would give up comic books as that is one of the most recent geeky hobby that I’ve picked up and I would replace it with making and producing music.
If there was one thing you could change about geek culture what would you change and why?
My advice above states it perfectly I think. 🙂
Where can my readers find more information about you?
The main place that i can be found is on Twitter. My username is @detneirosid. I can also be found on a podcast I do with @muunkie34 called Soda Pop Talk.
As geeks we’ve been ridiculed at some point in our lives. How did you cope with that and how has it affected you as an adult?
I coped with it by internalizing it and using it to make myself more accepting of other people.
How did SodaPopTalk come about?
Nolan and I had previously done a couple of other podcasts with our friend Chris and Nolan’s brother Garrett somewhere between 2007-2009 called The Everyman Critics and US Anime Review. We never really got much steam going behind them due to conflicting schedules and really a lack of any real interest from anyone outside of us and our families. Nolan and I began hanging out more and had some funny discussions and wondered why we weren’t recording them and putting them out as podcasts as being the egomaniacs we were (are?) thought other people would find them entertaining as well.
How do you know your cohost Nolan?
I met Nolan’s brother around 1998-1999 and at one point he was living with Nolan. I would go hang out with Garrett and started hanging out with Nolan as well.
Describe your podcast.
We talk about anything that we feel like. Many times we don’t have an agenda, but just kind of spitball. Though there are a few shows which we follow and talk about, which are Supernatural and Vikings. It can be found at http://www.sodapoptalk.podbean.com
We want some juicy gossip about your Cohost!
Hmm…He does not like crickets, mice or spiders…
What shows inspired you to start SodaPopTalk if any. What shows do you listen to?
Our original shows provided the inspiration of really what we didn’t want to continue with in regard to format. We both began listening to Stitcher Radio and discovered a host of podcasts, but there were 2 which really stood out to us and helped mold what we wanted to do. Those 2 shows are Slacker and the Man and The Well Watchers. As far as which shows do i listen to now the primary ones are The Well Watchers, The Mean Geek and Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast.
What are some of your favorite Heavy metal bands?
Some of my favorite metal bands are Black Sabbath, Reverend Bizarre, Apostle of Solitude, Opium Warlords, Burzum, Darkthrone, Death, Nile, Behemoth, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Type O Negative and the list could go on for quite a long time so I’ll stop there. 🙂
Why is this your favorite kind of music?
There is something primal in metal music. There can be beauty in it as well, but the release that metal provides for me has helped me through many periods of my life. There are certainly many other types of music that I listen to and enjoy, but there is something special about the spark that metal provides.
What type of video games are your favorite to play the most?
My favorite video games tend to be old games from the NES and Atari 2600 systems or real-time strategy games on the PC. On the newer systems I gravitate toward sports games and games aimed more for kids like Skylanders, LEGO Marvel Superheroes and Disney Infinity.
What are you currently playing?
I’m currently playing Skylanders Swap Force and LEGO Marvel Superheroes again.
You mentioned that you are pretty good at Pop Culture based trivia games. Do you study it? or do you just have a good memory? I myself recognize things but often times names elude me.
I pick up random things and spend way too much time reading sites like IMDB and Wikipedia. My memory is great when it comes to useless information, but it’s not that great when it comes to important things. haha
Can you tell us one interesting fact about pop culture that maybe not a lot of people know?
To get the fuzzy guitar sound in You Really Got Me by the Kinks the band kicked the cone of the speaker, stuck needles into it speaker and cut it with a razor.
What makes a good movie?
A good movie for me is a movie that draws me in with its story and has a subtext that I can ruminate on for hours or days afterward. It’s also a movie i can come back to and find more meaning and more topics for discussion.
What kinds interest you the most?
I am most often drawn to European cinema or films heavily influenced by European cinema. To best illustrate the types of films I mean, my favorite directors are Ingmar Bergman, David Lynch, Lars von Trier, Andrzej Zulawski and Alfred Hitchcock. That being said sometimes a good laugh, good scare or a good popcorn movie are really what’s needed and I’ll go to a movie like Dumb and Dumber.
What are your thoughts about the last movie you saw either at home/with friends/Theater?
The last movie I saw at home was The Brotherhood of Satan. It is a horror movie from 1971. It does not have the best special effects or camera work, but it makes up for that with the mood and acting of Strother Martin. It’s definitely a B-movie, but it’s one I thoroughly enjoy.
The last movie I saw with friends was when Nolan and I took our boys to see Guardians of the Galaxy. Guardians was enjoyable for being a popcorn movie, but my favorite part was far and away the closing scene after the credits with my favorite Marvel character, Howard the Duck.
The last movie I saw in the theater was Gone Girl. It was a stylish movie with a couple of errors which really threw me out of the mindset to enjoy the movie and in addition the way the antagonistic and protagonist were handled in the film it felt to me as slightly misogynistic.
What’s at least one fact you could tell us about an ancient culture?
The stories which are prevalent and revered through modern religions have many similarities and in some cases are plagiarized from ancient Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Greek and Roman stories.
What is it that fascinates you about these ancient cultures?
There is much that can be learned from studying the history of man and if we were to actually learn from our past as race we could all have a better future.
You said you enjoy history what did you enjoy learning about the most?
My favorite culture to study is easily ancient Egypt, but I also enjoy readying about the other cultures in the fertile crescent.
Do you believe in aliens? Why?
Yes, i believe in the existence of extraterrestrials. The universe is so expansive that the likelihood that we are alone in the universe is very egocentric. Regarding the whether Earth has been visited by these extraterrestrials is another topic and one that again I have no empirical evidence to support, but still believe is possible.
How do you feel about the show Ancient Aliens on the History channel?
Like much of today’s television programs it sensationalizes, fabricates and otherwise distorts facts to the point that it devalues and trivializes any real discovery.
How big is your comic collection?
My comics collection is not very large, but it does fill up approximately 3 1/2 short boxes.
And how big is your movie collection?
It is currently over 1100 movies and can be found here: http://oc.mymovies.dk/detneirosid
I almost forgot that today wss Wednesday and New Comic Book Day. Here’s what I read this week, not much but I have also finished reading The Fault in Our Stars and went back to finish The Host and man that’s one hell of a terrible book. Snooze fest but I will not fail to finish, I have came this far for nothing.

The Amazing Spider-Man.
So many great comics to read how the heck does one read them all?
Hello Comic book fans welcome back to the newsroom! I just finished watching episode 2 of The Flash and boy am I still in love with what the CW is doing with this comic book superhero. Now I may not know much about the lore behind The Flash and Barry Allen but what I do know is that this show is one of the best I have seen In a long time, I also just finished season 2 and the first two episodes of season two of arrow and boy am I really impressed with the CW and the work that they are doing with both of these shows. Wish they would stop making me cry so much damn!
The pilot knocked my socks off as I previously stated in the pilot of this blog series! Episode two did the same exact thing if not maybe even more than before. I really like the actors they really mesh well together and are completely believable. I already feel connected to them in a way that I wouldn’t be able to sum up in a few words.
I was a little worried about the special effects being too much like the matrix slow motion that shows tend to use to show time slowing down. I think that it works for this type of series. One thing I think is cool is whenever Barry is running as The Flash you see the yellow/red streaks that he leaves in his wake. Another special effect that I love is in the title sequence when the title pops in they have the lightning bolt appear in the background I don’t think it would have the same effect in any other way. I hope that the special effects are awesome and that they leave me with my jaw on the floor, because that’s the way that I like them!
At first I was skeptical on Flash’s costume, but once they add the lightning bolts to it I said to myself now that’s the flash! I have a sense that they may or may not change it at some point but we shall see. I just have a hunch its going to be tweaked at some point in time, so until that happens guess we will have to wait and see!
Well be back in a Flash! Speed on to live another day!
