What I have been reading

Hello everyone its time for Book Corner, which should be returning more often at least I will try! I am three books behind in my 30 GoodReads Goal I am sitting at 17 total books for this year, I really need to step up my game if I want to accomplish this goal! Anyways during the time I had a short hiatus while moving and waiting to have my computer set up to the internet, and having a desk to sit at I read a few books so I will tell you what I read!

Now I consider Graphic Novels to count towards my goal and so does GoodReads (You can scan single issues but they don’t count towards your overall total.) so if you want to say they aren’t books, please go away! Nobody has time for that negativity!

Ready Player One
Ernest Cline

imagesFL0GYU3GI highly recommend Ready Player One Written by Ernest Cline. It’s easily the best book that I have ever read! I loved the storyline, and I loved each and every one of the characters. There was a whole bunch of 80s references throughout the whole book and there was probably like three that I didn’t quite understand and had to look up on the internet, but they were all fantasy, Game related references a gamer should appreciate it. If you love this book as much as I did please tell me! I have heard a few negative comments on it but overall it got good reviews. I think a five-star rating wasn’t enough! Way to go Cline. Oh and by the way it’s getting a movie!!!! Looking forward to that one!

Pure Insanity
*New Suicide Squad Volume 1*
new-suicide-squad-vol1-pure-insanity-dccomics-ryan-hunter-roberts-blondI really enjoyed the first story but the second one was mediocre at best, still an overall fun read. I have come to the conclusion that I prefer reading graphic novels to single issues. For me I can’t really afford each issue, each week or month depending on which property it belongs to, plus I’m funny I hate having to wait to find out what happens next. I am a book junkie what can I say I sure love a good book

Deathstroke Volume 1: Gods of War
deathstroke-vol-1-gods-of-wars-the-new-52I was overjoyed to hear that Deathstroke had his own comic book! After watching Season 2 of Arrow on the CW (credit really goes to Manu Bennett for my love of DeathStroke.) I became obsessed with DS. Now before reading this I really only heard bad things about it, someone said it confused them, I clearly don’t agree. I understood it completely maybe if it was confusing re-read it and I bet it will make sense! I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Silence
#1
Natasha Preston

91awiaP1tgL._SL1500_I got this book off the Ibooks application on my iPhone. It was an enjoyable read even if the subject matter was on the dark side. Could you imagine having something really bad happen to you at a young age and take a vow of silence to protect yourself and your loved ones? I wouldn’t wish that on anyone not even one of my enemies. It is a love story, and a sad story which had me in tears by the end. I have to read book two to find out what happens to this girl. I am sensing a trip to the local library, or I might just buy it right off of my Ibooks app.

Uncharted
The Fourth Labyrinth
Christopher Golden

imagesD2LG61VZOh how I love Nathan Drake and the Uncharted Series! The Fourth Labyrinth rekindled my love for the series and makes me miss having a PlayStation 3, especially with Uncharted 4 on its way, one day I will get a PS4 until then this book sated my taste for it.  Drake and Sully go on another one of their wild treasure hunts filled with Murder and mystery. I for one thought overall it was a pretty interesting story I just missed Elena Fisher! Bring her into the next book please!

Deus Ex: The Icarus Effect
James Swallow

51va0zXD6zLIcarus Effect takes place right before the game Deus Ex: Human Revolution but it’s not the sole focus of this book. So that means sorry ladies no Adam Jensen (aww poo). I really read this to subdue my love for Deus Ex until Mankind Divided comes out next year! Overall it was a really good book and I recommend if you love the games to read this book.

There you have it, there are the books I have read since my last post was published! They are listed from recent to the oldest. If you have read any of these books and would like to share your thoughts on them I am always open for discussion!

I am currently reading The Last Apprentice: The Curse of the Bane by Joseph Delaney *book two in the series* I expect to be finished sometime this weekend or during next week.
9-11-september-11-memorials-patriots-dayWith the end of this blog post, I please ask my readers take a moment of silence to remember the events of 9/11.  Honor those who gave their lives trying to save others, those who had their lives stolen, and the people who were left behind. We will always be scarred by this tragedy and those innocent souls that were stolen from us will always be with us.

I remember sitting in my 7th grade History class when the towers went down. I remember sitting there with tears in my eyes and a horrible gloom hanging over my head. We sat and watched the News coverage pretty much that whole day.

Please be safe out there, this world is cruel and I wish you nothing but good fortune.

cress2I finished reading the third book in the Lunar Chronicles called Cress! If you have never read Cinder I strongly suggest you pick that book up because once you do you will get sucked into it right away! Marissa Meyer is a phenomenal author!

Cress was a fun-filled book! I just love the way Meyer takes fairy tales and puts scientific spins on the! I cant wait to pick up the “Prequel” Fairest and then the fourth book this fall Winter! **Girly scream**

Next up on the reading agenda I have already began reading The Last Apprentice: Revenge of the Witch by Joseph Delaney! I am enjoying it this far!

Book Corner: Red Harvest

Completed my first book for February yay! So what does this mean you may ask? It means its time for another Book Corner presentation! I hope you enjoy this series cause it is truly one of my favorite posts. I am so happy that I got back into reading I sort of stopped a long time ago but its a great hobby, one day I’d like to fill up a room for a library. A girl can have dreams.

Okay so remember last time I asked you to picture a Zombie Star Wars Crossover well I’m going to do that once more, and if you missed the last book corner please get an idea in your head.

image

Joe Schreiber does it again for me he is definitely starting to become one of my favorite authors. I need to read some of his other books outside of the Star Wars realm if there is any! Going to have to do research on that one!

Red Harvest is one intense moment after another. When I first started reading this book  I wasn’t into it as much as I was with Death Troopers. I felt there was too many characters to remember, along with who lives and how they die but the farther I got the easier it becomes!

I highly recommend this Novel to Star Wars and zombie lovers! It has just a little bit of everything for everyone to enjoy. Once again I say I’m not into zombies but these last two books have kind of got me interested a bit more. .Does anyone have any good Zombie books to recommend?

Up next is Sailor Moon #1

image

Then onto Cress. The third book in The Lunar Chronicles series.

Book Corner: Death Troopers

Another book to check off the GoodReads list! I am still in shock that I read 3 books in the month of January lets hope that I could do the same in February! 27/30 left for the year and I’m off to a great start!

Now let me ask you a simple question. How do you feel about Star Wars? And how do you feel about Zombies? Now what if they were combined?
Even if your skeptical about this just keep an open mind about the topic.

image

Death Troopers by Schreiber was an excellent read. Now normally I am not a fan of zombies not even in the slightest bit, I feel they are overdone and sort of overrated. (Please save the hate mail haha) Anyways with that being said this was a spectacular find and glad I read it! It has suspense and vivid imagery that it feels like your watching it all unfold before your very eyes. It can’t be good when there is a chapter called Skin Hill that just sounds like something bad is going to happen.

Now there is some skepticism from other reviews I read on Death Troopers about the introduction to two main characters from the Star Wars trilogy (SPOILER) Han Solo and Chewbacca.  To me it didn’t bother me either way it was nice to see some familiar characters though!

I highly recommend reading this book even if your like me and don’t truly care for the Zombie Fad.

Next Book to read is:

image

Another Star Wars Zombie crossover by the man who brought you Death Troopers and Maul Lowdown!

Happy Reading! If you have a book you’d like to share please send me your reviews and you might get a Book Corner Spotlight!  Email is thegamehuntress@gmail.com!

Book Corner: Four

Wow holy cow! Did I actually read more than one book this month? This rarely happens so you’ll have to excuse my shock to this! And am I about to start my third book!

image

The book Four takes place before the events of Divergent.  The nice thing is you get more of his character development from before to how the finally book ends. I love that Veronica Roth chose to write this book from Four’s perspective made me love the character that much more! & oh less I forget I even named my Dragon Age Inquisition character Tobias after him!

I am extremely sad that this series has come to an end and that there isn’t any more to read but all great things come to an end. It was one hell of a ride!

image

Out with the old in with the new Next book up is Star Wars Death Troopers by Joe Schreiber. I believe I wrote a review on his Star Wars Maul Lockdown and I absolutely loved that book so I hold this book in high regard!

Happy Reading everyone!

Book Corner: Allegiant

Finished my first book of the year yesterday afternoon! I actually read it pretty quickly considering it usually takes me about a month to read a book maybe longer depending on the subject. I set a goodreads goal of thirty books which means I have to read about 2.5 books a month!

image

Allegiant is the third book in the Divergent series I must say it was probably the best one in my opinion. With that being said I hated the ending it made me so angry I contemplated throwing it at a wall. Damn you Veronica Roth damn you!! It’ll make you angry but you’ll want to cry also.

Next book is Four by Roth. It’s supposed to be before the events of Tris Prior!

Happy Reading!

Star Wars Maul Lockdown

images4SUNA62NGreetings my fellow bloggers and fellow comrades! So its been a while since I wrote about one of the books that I read, I finished up Dragon Age: The Masked Empire truth be told I wasn’t that impressed by that novel so I am not going to write about it much. It wasn’t written by David Gaider like the previous novels so that’s one judgment I had with it. Another problem that I had was I didn’t really care about the Orlesian politics of it all, none of the characters really stood out to me and the only truly cunning character was Grand Duke Gaspard. I only rated it a 3 stars on GoodReads I did almost give it 2 but I don’t want to be that kind of critic. It’s still a good read however especially if you love the world of the video game as much as I do, so I will give it props for that at least! Assunder was still my favorite of the 3 I have read I do need to go back and read the second novel and read the one that came after Masked Empire.

Maul Lockdown

Now let’s get to Star Wars! When I was younger and I read more than I do now (over this past year I have really gotten back into it) I used to read Star Wars Novels all the time I bet if you asked my older brother he might say I read a bunch like he has. One of my favorite villains of this universe was Darth Maul I honestly wanted more of him in Episode 1 so when I heard that there was a whole book dedicated to him I was all up in arms to board that gravy train! This was probably the first book that didn’t take me a super long time to read, I breezed through it and not because it was super boring but because it was an excellent read! Maul Lockdown is before the events of Episode one! Maul is sent to Cog Hive Seven to find a man stuck on the prison station where inmates are pawns in betting games. I don’t want to get too much into the story however so I will leave it at that. I highly recommend you read this novel, if you read it let me know how you like it!

I like how in the beginning of the book before you ever start reading they have a timeline so you know where the book stands, they also tell you the characters that are going to be in the book so in case your confused you can always go back up there to keep characters straight.

If you know of any other books that contain Darth Maul please send them my way! I am going to get back to reading Star Wars Books I would greatly appreciate it.

I am now currently reading The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Happy Reading!

Scarlet

Scarlet

Written by The lovely and very talented Marissa Meyer.

Book 2 of the Lunar Chronicles is about Scarlet her grandmother has disappeared and she must find her and figure out why she has been kidnapped. Scarlet meets up with a street fighter named Wolf, he decided to help Scar find her grandmere.

You will love the play on Little Red Riding Hood, know I did!

Cinder has escaped her jail cell where she was locked up from the end of the first book. She and her companion from prison Thorne plan to take back a ship that landed Thorne in prison in the first place to go on a search to find the long lost Princess of Luna.
My favorite character is Wolf. I don't know what it is I am just drawn to his character, I really hope that he makes it into the next book Cress (Repunsel in space can't beat that.)

One thing I loved about this book is that Meyers intergrated each plot with the other characters plot. It was done in such a way that doesn't bore you, and is easy to follow along with, from Cinder/Thorne, Prince Kai/Queen Levana and Scarlet/Wolf. I strongly suggest you read Scarlet and be sure to get cinder as well if you haven't read it yer.

Now currently reading Divergent!! Two books away from my GoodReads Goal of 6 books in a year!

Super excited my Birthday will be here soon!!!! Thanks for reading this blog!!
